The Evolution of Fashion
The world of fashion began with individual couturiers and evolved, as a result of the Industrial Revolution, into a mass market industry. By studying this evolution we become better equipped to understand the organization of the fashion industry and the direction in which it is moving.
Pre-Fashion
Prior to the late 1700's, fashion was made by individual, anonymous tailors and dressmakers. Only the upper class could afford to be fashionable. In 1770, Rose Bertin emerged:

ATTENDANCE:
Students are expected to attend all classes. If a class must be
missed, the student must inform the Instructor by email to be excused. If more
than two class periods are missed in a given semester, the student’s final
grade for the course will drop by one letter grade for each day missed.
THIS MEANS THAT EVEN IF YOU DO A WORK - IF YOU MISS 6 OR MORE CLASSES YOU WILL FAIL THE COURSE.
Students are responsible for making up any work missed while absent.
HOMEWORK:
Assignments that are handed in late will be dropped
by one letter grade for each class period that they are late.
If a student wishes to
re-work an assignment that HAS ALREADY BEEN handed in and submit it for a
better grade, they may do so by the end of the semester.
Homework
